It is often hard to find a right solution to a PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port hardware-related error by visiting UMAX's website. Even if you are experienced at finding, downloading, and manually updating PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port drivers, the process can still be very time consuming and extremely irritating. An improper driver download can lead to issues with software and harm the functionality of the computer.

Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

This topic discusses keyboard and mouse HID client drivers. Keyboards and mice represent the first set of HID clients that were standardized in the HID Usage tables and implemented in Windows operating systems.

Keyboard and mouse HID client drivers are implemented in the form of HID Mapper Drivers. A HID mapper driver is a kernel-mode WDM filter driver that provides a bidirectional interface for I/O requests between a non-HID Class driver and the HID class driver. The mapper driver maps the I/O requests and data protocols of one to the other.

Notice that the Z/wheel data for a 5-button wheel mouse has been reduced to four bits instead of the 8 bits used in the IntelliMouse-compatible 3-button wheel mode. This reduction is made possible by the fact that the wheel typically cannot generate values beyond the range +7/-8 during any given interrupt period. Windows mouse drivers will sign extend the four Z/wheel data bits when the mouse is in the 5-button wheel mode, and the full Z/wheel data byte when the mouse operates in the 3-button wheel mode.

Moufiltr is designed to be used with Mouclass, the system class driver for mouse devices used with Windows 2000 and later versions, and I8042prt, the function driver for a PS/2-style mouse used with Windows 2000 and later. Moufiltr demonstrates how to filter I/O requests and add callback routines that modify the operation of Mouclass and I8042prt.

The IOCTL_INTERNAL_I8042_HOOK_MOUSE request adds an ISR callback routine to the I8042prt mouse ISR. The ISR callback is optional and is provided by an upper-level mouse filter driver.

PERIMICE-209 P is a classic wired PS/2 mouse with a comfortable curved profile for a natural resting hand position. Responsive 3-button design is supported with 1000 DPI optical resolution. A great addition to your desktop computer with its PS/2 connector compatible with PS/2 serial keyboard ports.

Okay, last weekend, I bought a Mitsumi Standard Scroll Mouse (PS/2) from eBay for the Toshiba Tecra 720CDT laptop with Windows 95 OSR2 and for some reason, the middle button/scroll bar doesn't seem to work. I even downloaded the drivers found in the mtm0413.zip file and it wasn't any help.

I thought that mouse wheel does not work in Windows 95 unless you have a specific mouse driver for it. I remember, back in old days when I had Windows 95, a new mouse with mouse wheel came with diskette with such specific driver. There was a tray utility (may be the first tray icon I saw in my life ) that allowed assigning an action for the third mouse button from several available ones. Windows 98 SE works with mouse wheel natively.

It is very common for HID devices to not work on different computers, for example, an HID-compatible mouse does not work on Windows 10. Now, you can read this post from MiniTool to know what HID compliant mouse is and how to fix HID compliant mouse not working issue.

What is the HID-compatible mouse? HID refers to human-machine interface equipment. HID-compliant devices are usually manual input and output, such as a USB mouse, USB Pen, and USB keyboard. Thus, all USB mice are HID-compatible devices.

The first method you should try is to check the HID-compliant mouse hardware. You should check the mouse port by plugging another complete mouse into this HID-compliant mouse port. You can also check the HID compatible mouse on another PC.

If you have checked the HID device port, it can make other USB mice work normally, and the HID compatible mouse can also work normally on another computer, which means you are using a compatible HID mouse on Windows 10. But, if the issue still appears, you can try the next solution.

If your Logitech HID compatible mouse driver is lost or damaged on Windows 10, the HID compatible mouse will also not work. In this way, you should uninstall the HID mouse driver and reinstall it. Here are the steps.

I'm going to ask a dumb question: are the drivers for the Wacom installed in the guest OS? It sounds like perhaps the guest is detecting the Wacom as a standard HID mouse. Thus cursor and button, but no pressure sense.

Because the keyboard in the guest is emulated using a special VMware driver, as is the mouse. (If you notice, the mouse in the guest is ALWAYS a 3-button PS/2 mouse - no extra buttons, no scroll wheel). And the part of your tablet which IS working in the guest is only the mouse part. The rest of the tablet functionality is a USB device - and, as such, can only be owned by one OS at any given time. If you want full functionality in your guest, you MUST give up the functionality in the host for that time.

Let's suppose the Wacom driver assumes it's the only driver running to control a particular device. Why would one pad be simultaneously controlling the mouse in two different computers? Are the buttons in exactly the same place on both screens? No, so this is a perfectly reasonable assumption that the programmers of the pad would make...one computer only. But that is in essence what you're trying to do: have one pad control a Linux computer at the same time that it's controlling a Windows Computer (the guest VM.) Imagine how this would work if both OS' were on physical machines. We have KVM switches to have one kb/mouse control multiple computers, but never at the same time. Supposed that both OS's were the same (i.e.: Windows.) I click Start, Shut down, so now both machines will shut down.

Then why does the mouse move in Windows? I'm going to guess that the pad is detected as a Human Interface Device. (HID) This is a built-in driver for Windows that is used for any USB mouse. So Windows detects the pad as a 2 button mouse, which does not have pressure sensitivity. Thus, you get cursor movement and button click, but no other features.
