Norton Ghost Ghost32 Exe V12

Norton Ghost Ghost32 Exe V12

Norton Ghost is a software product that allows users to create and restore backups of their hard drives, partitions, files, and folders. It was developed by Symantec, a company that specializes in security and data protection solutions. Norton Ghost 12.0 was released in 2007 and was compatible with Windows XP and Vista. It also introduced some new features, such as incremental and differential backups, encryption, compression, and remote management.

One of the components of Norton Ghost 12.0 is Ghost32.exe, which is a graphical user interface (GUI) version of the command-line tool Ghost.exe. Ghost32.exe can be used to perform various tasks, such as creating and restoring images, cloning disks, checking image integrity, and exploring image contents. It can also be used to launch other tools, such as Ghost Explorer and GhostCast Server.

Ghost Explorer is a tool that allows users to view and extract files from an image file without restoring it. It can also be used to add or delete files from an image file, or to modify its properties. GhostCast Server is a tool that allows users to create or restore images over a network using multicast or unicast protocols. It can also be used to create or join sessions, monitor progress, and configure settings.

Norton Ghost 12.0 also came with a bootable CD that contained a Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) version of Ghost32.exe. This allowed users to run Ghost32.exe without installing Windows or Norton Ghost on the computer. The bootable CD also contained other tools, such as disk management utilities, network drivers, and antivirus software.

Norton Ghost 12.0 was one of the last versions of Norton Ghost that used the original .gho file format for image files. Later versions of Norton Ghost switched to a new file format called .v2i, which was compatible with other Symantec products, such as Backup Exec System Recovery and System Recovery Desktop Edition. However, some users preferred the .gho file format for its simplicity and compatibility with older versions of Norton Ghost.

In 2019, Symantec was acquired by Broadcom, a company that focuses on infrastructure software and semiconductor solutions. As a result, Norton Ghost was discontinued and replaced by other products, such as Norton 360 and Norton Utilities Premium. However, some users still use Norton Ghost 12.0 or older versions for their backup and recovery needs.
